The Research Triangle Regional Public Transportation Authority is looking for a Mechanic I to handle ongoing service and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment. This role involves performing inspections, minor repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations in a supportive team environment. Candidates should have a high school diploma, basic mechanical knowledge, and good communication skills.
Tues - Sat 7:30am to 4:00pm
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB DUTIES
The Mechanic I provides ongoing service, preventive maintenance work and minor repairs on vehicles, buses, machinery, and equipment. The Mechanic I reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or the lead mechanic. This position reports to a Maintenance Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the above stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.
Working Conditions:
Works in an office environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or extreme temperatures. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting operating facilities, during which the incumbent should observe all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and use all protective clothing and devices provided.
Physical Requirements:
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
