Job summary

Armada Staffing Group is seeking a 1st Shift Material Prep candidate in Fort Wayne, IN. The role centers on preparing and processing steel materials for fabrication, reading shop prints, and coordinating with engineers and welders to ensure smooth material flow and readiness.

The position is full-time on 1st shift (6am-4:30pm, Mon-Thu with overtime on Fridays). Pay starts at $18.00/hour and includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance with weekly pay.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in steel fabrication, material prep, or a related industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of material handling and shop print interpretation.
• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and safety.
• Comfortable working on your feet and handling materials in an industrial setting.
• Commitment to teamwork, communication, and quality workmanship.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret shop prints and work orders.
• Identify, stage, and prepare materials based on size and job requirements.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, burn table workers, and welders.
• Operate material prep and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
• Multi-task and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced shop environment.
• Maintain attention to detail and ask questions when clarification is needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
