Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join the Shelbyville manufacturing team on the 1st shift (7:00am–3:30pm). This on‑site role supports production through hands‑on equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvements.

You will work with operators, engineering, and suppliers to keep lines running, perform tool and part inspections, and participate in cross‑training across operations. The position offers competitive pay and a path for skill development.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; AA degree preferred.
  • Solid shop math skills and ability to work with decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints.
  • Basic mechanical ability; machine changes and operation experience.
  • Ability to use basic tools, equipment, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of SPC and basic computer skills such as machine controls, monitoring, and data entry.
  • Light physical effort: lifting, pushing, pulling 5–25 pounds.
  • English reading and writing. Understand safety and quality instructions.
  • Flexibility to work overtime.
  • Must not be on an active final coaching for any disciplinary action.

Responsibilities

  • Complete machine improvements, rebuilds, and repairs quickly, cost efficiently and correctly.
  • Assist with receipt, storage, issue, and return of tools and equipment; inspect, measure, and test completed tools and parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and replacements of tools and equipment; conduct regular inspections to ensure tools are in proper working condition.
  • Milling, setting, punch, and auto‑welding; adjustments and alignments; component specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including cross‑training in other operations.

The Job

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll be part of our Shelbyville Manufacturing team working as an on‑site employee.
