Job purpose
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating activities within the maintenance department. They will work with technicians to identify issues and decide on required actions. This position involves reviewing work orders and prioritizing them to ensure continuous production operation. A key focus will be to develop maintenance staff and monitor their progress. The supervisor will also collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on strategies and opportunities for training and skill advancement.
Duties and responsibilities
- Planning, prioritizing, assigning, and participating in maintenance operations
- Scheduling work order repairs to ensure continuous production
- Inspecting machines and equipment for conformance with standards
- Requisitioning tools, equipment, and supplies
- Handling emergency after-hour maintenance calls
- Planning daily tasks and delegating them to maintenance personnel
- Collaborating with management, engineering, and quality control to resolve maintenance issues
- Supporting training and development of personnel
- Communicating accomplishments and concerns via daily reports
- Following food safety guidelines and protocols
- Developing maintenance policies to ensure safety compliance
- Conducting annual reviews of technicians
Qualifications
- 5-7+ years experience as a Maintenance Supervisor
- Knowledge of management principles, strategic planning, resource allocation, and leadership
- Ability to read English and follow manuals
- Skills in HVAC, Electrical, Machining, Welding, etc.
- Experience in specialized repairs and diagnostics
- Ability to schedule equipment PMs and WOs
- Experience in the food industry is a plus
- Knowledge of OSHA and safety regulations
Experience
- Excellent communication, organization, and technical skills
- Proficient in Excel, Word; CAD skills are a plus
- Strong knowledge of Maintenance & Reliability
- Self-motivated with results-oriented approach
- Knowledge of CMMS, HACCP, GMPs, and Food Safety Audits
Working conditions
Must work any hours including holidays and weekends.
Physical requirements
- Proper PPE including steel-toe shoes, hair restraints, gloves
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, reach, kneel, crawl, twist
- Good vision, hearing, and communication skills
