Description

The machine operator is a critical team member for the Warsaw, IN operation. They will safely use machines to process customer orders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (performs Other Duties As Assigned)

1. Sets up and operates cutting machine(s) in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
2. Utilizes power equipment to process materials according to customer order requirements.
3. Safely adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications.
4. Notices and reports defects and/or excessive wear and tear of equipment; performs set-up and preventative maintenance of equipment. Maintains a safe work environment.
5. Responsible for special projects as assigned.
6. Assists with Warehouse Operator responsibilities as needed, including loading and unloading trucks, performing material movement tasks, and operating power equipment such as crown truck, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, and forklift.
7. Follows customer requirements to select, fill, and package orders.
8. Attaches bundle tags to material being shipped and stages for shipment.

Required Qualifications

1. Two years of relevant machine operator experience, preferably in the metals service center industry.
2. Capability to be certified in assigned equipment (forklift, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, etc.).
3. Basic measurement and math competencies.
4. Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within a warehouse environment.
5. Strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Manual dexterity, standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
• Light lifting (up to 25 lbs) and heavy lifting (25-50 lbs).
• Exposure to powered industrial equipment, machinery, power tools, and heavy vehicles.
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to training.
