Job summary

Abacus Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to join our client site in Brownsburg, IN. This temp-to-hire role supports daily warehouse operations and maintains inventory accuracy in a fast-paced distribution environment.

You will operate a cherry picker/order picker, perform cycle counts, and use RF scanners and WMS to ensure accurate records, while meeting safety requirements and business needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in inventory control, cycle counting, warehousing, or logistics.
• Hands-on experience operating a cherry picker/order picker in a warehouse.
• Experience using WMS, RF scanners, or inventory systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled cycle counts, location audits, and verifications per requirements.
• Safely operate cherry picker/order picker to access elevated racks and verify inventory.
• Research discrepancies by reviewing physical inventory, locations, labels and transactions.
• Complete authorized inventory adjustments, transfers, and reconciliations accurately and promptly.
• Verify item numbers, quantities, lot/serial numbers, expiration dates and locations.
• Use RF scanners, WMS, spreadsheets and reports to record inventory data.
• Identify damaged products, mislabels, and location errors; report issues.

What You'll Do

As an Inventory Specialist, you will support daily warehouse operations by maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring all inventory transactions are completed accurately and efficiently. Responsibilities include:

• Perform scheduled cycle counts, location audits, and inventory verifications in accordance with customer and company requirements.
• Safely operate a cherry picker/order picker to access, retrieve, relocate, and verify inventory stored in elevated rack locations.
• Research inventory discrepancies by reviewing physical inventory, warehouse locations, labels, system transactions, and supporting documentation.
• Complete authorized inventory adjustments, transfers, status changes, and reconciliations accurately and promptly.
• Verify item numbers, quantities, lot or serial numbers, expiration dates, inventory status, and storage locations as required.
• Utilize RF scanners, warehouse management systems (WMS), spreadsheets, count sheets, and reporting tools to record and validate inventory information.
• Identify and report damaged products, incorrect labels, mixed inventory, location errors, and other conditions affecting inventory accuracy.
• Support additional inventory and operational functions as needed to meet business requirements.

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in inventory control, cycle counting, warehousing, distribution, logistics, or third-party logistics (3PL) preferred.
• Previous hands-on experience operating a cherry picker/order picker in a warehouse or distribution center environment required.
• Experience performing cycle counts, inventory research, reconciliations, location audits, or physical inventories preferred.
• Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, inventory systems, or related technology preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work at elevated rack locations while operating warehouse equipment.
• Ability to work assigned schedules, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
