Job summary

QPS Employment Group is seeking a Fab Machine Operator in Saint Charles, MO. This is a 1st shift role with hours 6:00am-2:30pm, Monday through Friday, with potential for hire.

The successful candidate will set up, operate, and troubleshoot machines to produce quality parts, read blueprints, and use IQMS for work orders and documentation. Safety and teamwork are emphasized throughout daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate, set up, and adjust machines to produce quality parts.
• Open and close work orders in IQMS dashboard.
• Print drawings in IQMS dashboard and verify part numbers.
• Produce parts from prints and understand required components.
• Maintain tooling and assist in tool replacement decisions.
• Mentor other operators and assist in team leadership as needed.

Job description

Position Title: Fab Machine Operator Wage: $21.11 per hour Shift: 1st Hours: 6:00am-2:30pm (Mon-Fri) QPS Employment Group has a great Fab Machine Operator position available at a company in Saint Charles, MO. This is a 1st shift position with the opportunity for hire.

Fab Machine Operator Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Performs tasks safely including wearing safety glasses and gloves as described in JHA requirements.
• Sets up, adjusts, and operates machines to produce quality parts.
• Opens and closes work orders in IQMS dashboard.
• Prints drawings in IQMS dashboard.
• Produces high quality parts from prints, knows model numbers, and which components are required for the products.
• Consistently produces at an acceptable level of productivity with some supervision.
• Troubleshoots machine problems. (I.e., machines, tools, etc.).
• Corrects machine and tooling setup for press brakes, drilling centers, and benders.
• Keeps tooling in top operating condition. (I.e., sharpens in house when feasible or notifies engineering when tool needs sharpening.
• Performs normal maintenance activities such as die sharpening, shimming, and mounting.
• Takes ownership of assigned equipment for 5S programs. I.e., cleanliness, spares, tool shadow boards, etc.
• May program new products on CNC equipment by using prints and machine/tooling knowledge.
• Makes recommendations for tooling replacement, repair, and purchase.
• Mentors and coaches other Machine Operators to help them improve these skills and abilities.
• Fills in or assists in leading production team when needed.
• Performs tasks safely including wearing safety glasses and gloves as described in JHA requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Fab Machine Operator Requirements:

• Previous machine operating experience preferred (I.e., experience with tube benders, press brakes and steel saws.)
• Ability to read tape measure, calipers, and micrometer is required.
• Understanding of metric and decimal measurements.
• Knowledge of computers to utilize IQMS as required.
• Skills in reviewing and accurately interpreting blueprint drawing for part number, tolerance, dimensions, etc.
• Balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, and reaches to work overhead.
• Walks or stands for a minimum of 8 hours with limited breaks.
• Pushes and pulls materials, fingers and grasps parts and components.
• Exerts up to fifty pounds of force frequently.
• Pays close visual acuity to perform inspections and operate machines.
• Tolerates extremes in weather and machine temperature.
• Tolerates loud noise.
• Extensive use with power/hand tools.
• Requires visual acuity to access details (I.e., prints, parts, work orders, etc.)
• Requires communication skills so ideas and instructions can be given clearly and/or quickly and understood.
• Requires the ability to distinguish between speech, machinery, and other sounds to understand instructions and/or directions.
