Jefferson Parish Schools in Avondale, LA seeks an aligned K-8 1st Grade Teacher for Emmett Gilbert Schl Excl to start Aug 1, 2026. A $2,000 stipend is offered for the first year at a target school with a high share of economically disadvantaged or ELL students.

The teacher will use diverse instructional methods, plan lessons, maintain records, foster student growth, and collaborate with staff and families to support learning and well-being in a dynamic school community.

Qualifications

• College degree required.
• Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate.
• Certification in area of assignment.

Responsabilités

• Promote the mental, physical, emotional and social growth of any student assigned.
• Uses available instructional materials and a variety of techniques in providing opportunities for student achievement and development.
• Plans and prepares for classes, submitting lesson plans weekly.
• Keeps accurate, neat records including class lists, attendance, health records, roll book, report cards, and permanent folders.
• Maintains an attractive classroom, reporting unsafe conditions when repairs are needed.
• Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work locations and duties.
• Communicates with parents and staff to support student progress and needs.
• Participates in inservice training and faculty meetings.
