Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Teacher (1st grade) for Nellie Stone Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction and using diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to guide student learning.

Collaborate with campus colleagues, participate in professional development, and support diverse learners in a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Prior successful student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
• Demonstrated continued professional development through coursework and/or job-embedded staff development.
• Master's degree or PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Have working knowledge of Minnesota State Standards and District Graduation Requirements and use this knowledge in instruction.
• Teach curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning and problem solving.
• Collaborate with peers to develop, plan and implement best practices for diverse learners.
• Assess students' developmental, cognitive, and social needs and provide developmentally appropriate instruction.
• Create lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and engaging and accessible to all students.
• Collaborate and communicate regularly with families to support learning and involve the community resources.
• Support district improvement goals and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Assess own instructional effectiveness through professional development processes.
