Job description

Henderson, Nevada · Full-time, 10-month · A Hebrew Public network school

What's the Role

Kesher Academy is Henderson's first city-authorized public charter school, and we opened our doors in August 2026. We are looking for a driven First Grade Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction, use Responsive Classroom techniques, and monitor student progress while collaborating with colleagues to refine teaching practices.

This is a founding-year classroom in a small, close-knit school where your work will shape how first grade is taught here for years to come. You don't need to speak Hebrew to apply — a dedicated Hebrew teacher leads our Hebrew instruction — and we strongly encourage candidates from traditionally underrepresented groups to join our community.

What You'll Do
  • Produce quality lesson plans aligned to the Nevada Academic Content Standards
  • Analyze and regularly review student assessment data — both formally and informally — to drive curricular and pedagogical choices and adjustments
  • Maximize learning time through effective classroom management
  • Provide an inviting, exciting learning environment using varied instructional techniques that accommodate all learning styles and developmentally appropriate strategies
  • Bring passion for and deep knowledge of your instructional subject area
  • Demonstrate evidence of student achievement growth in previous teaching roles
  • Collaborate with other faculty and instructional leaders to discuss student work and ensure curricular coherence
  • Partner with our Hebrew teaching team so that general education and Hebrew instruction reinforce one another
  • Engage families through intentional relationship building and ongoing communication
  • Bring boundless energy and enthusiasm for working with students and other adults in the building
  • Demonstrate a solutions-oriented mindset and flexible thinking when faced with challenges
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; Master's degree is a plus
  • Hold a Nevada Department of Education teaching license (Elementary Education), are eligible for Nevada licensure by reciprocity, or are actively working toward it
  • K-12 lead teaching experience in a classroom setting is a plus
  • Experience in urban, public charter, or Title I schools is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Legally authorized to work in the USA
  • Able to complete fingerprinting and a criminal history background check as required by Nevada law (NRS 388A.515) before your first day
  • Committed to all students, with the belief that all students can learn and must be held to high academic standards
  • Committed to professional growth through self-reflection, receptiveness to feedback, and a continuous desire to improve
  • Excited to teach in a founding school and comfortable with the pace and problem-solving that comes with year one
What You'll Love About Us

Great teachers transform student lives. At Kesher Academy, you will be part of a small founding team, backed by Hebrew Public — a charter management organization leading a national movement of exceptional, diverse public charter schools that teach Modern Hebrew to children of all backgrounds and prepare them to be successful global citizens. You get the support, curriculum, and coaching of a national network with the closeness of a school where every adult knows every child by name.

Salary: $50,000 annually, paid semi-monthly.

Benefits include:

  • Health Coverage: School-sponsored medical, dental, and vision plans for full-time employees
  • Retirement: Employer-sponsored retirement plan
  • Paid Time Off: Paid holidays following the school calendar, plus PTO and paid leave in accordance with school policy and Nevada law
  • Family Leave: Up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act for eligible employees
Our Commitment

We are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve. Candidates of color and those from backgrounds that are underrepresented in school leadership roles are particularly encouraged to apply.
