Software Engineer / Senior Software Engineer — .NET & SQL

– Location: Hawaii preferred; mainland remote candidates may be considered

– Employment Options: Direct hire, contract-to-hire, or long-term contract

Compensation:

Software Engineer: $55–$65/hour W-2; potential FTE salary of $80,000–$110,000

Senior Software Engineer: $65–$75/hour W-2; potential FTE salary of $105,000–$135,000

Our client, a leading healthcare organization, is expanding a newly created Scrum team responsible for delivering some of the company’s highest-priority technology initiatives.

The team was initially launched as a proof of concept, proved successful, and is now being expanded. These engineers will work on highly visible projects sponsored by senior and executive leadership, with opportunities to contribute to application modernization, Agile maturity, QA, DevOps, and potentially AI-enabled solutions.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, test, and support applications using .NET and SQL.


• Work directly with business stakeholders to understand their goals and challenges.


• Gather and clarify business requirements that may initially be vague or incomplete.


• Ask the right follow-up questions to uncover the underlying business need.


• Translate business requirements into technical designs and working software.


• Communicate technical concepts, limitations, and tradeoffs to nontechnical stakeholders.


• Collaborate with developers, product partners, QA, and other members of an Agile Scrum team.


• Contribute to high-priority initiatives that may not have fully established requirements or processes.


• Participate in efforts related to application modernization, automation, DevOps, quality improvement, and AI adoption.

Software Engineer Qualifications:

• Strong professional experience developing applications with .NET and C#.


• Strong SQL and relational database experience.


• Experience working directly with business stakeholders or end users.


• Ability to gather requirements and turn business needs into technical solutions.


• Comfortable working through ambiguity and incomplete documentation.


• Strong communication, problem-solving, and active-listening skills.


• Experience working in an Agile or Scrum environment is preferred.


• Healthcare experience is helpful but not required.


• AI, generative AI, or intelligent automation experience is a plus.

Senior Software Engineer Qualifications:

• Strong senior-level application development experience with .NET, C#, and SQL.


• Professional experience within healthcare is required.


• Healthcare payer, health insurance, claims-processing, or provider-system experience is strongly preferred.


• Experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements.


• Ability to independently translate complex business needs into technical designs and production-ready code.


• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with nontechnical partners.


• Experience supporting claims, eligibility, enrollment, provider, member, billing, or pharmacy-related systems is highly desirable.


• QNXT experience is a major plus but is not required.


• AI, generative AI, or intelligent automation experience is a plus.


• Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, or QA modernization is preferred.

The strongest candidates will be more than technically capable developers. Our client needs engineers who are comfortable engaging directly with the business and working through ambiguity.

Business stakeholders may not always provide complete technical requirements. You should be comfortable asking thoughtful questions, identifying the actual business objective, and translating that information into a clear and effective technical solution.

This role may not be the best fit for developers who require fully documented specifications before beginning their work.

Location and Hiring Preferences:

Our client will prioritize candidates in the following order:

• Hawaii-local direct-hire candidates


• Contract-to-hire candidates who are already in Hawaii or willing to relocate to Hawaii for conversion


• Mainland-based candidates interested in a long-term remote contract

Mainland candidates may remain remote for a long-term contract. Candidates pursuing a contract-to-hire opportunity must be willing to relocate to Hawaii in connection with conversion to a permanent position.
