Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking an experienced Service Technician to join our field-service team. You will service, maintain and repair CHP and power generation systems at customer sites across the United States.

The role requires diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, reading schematics, and providing technical support by phone when needed. A valid driver’s license and passport are essential, with 3–5 years in a related environment preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as Service Technician or similar (e.g. Generator Technician, CHP Technician).
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with gas engines, generators, CHP or industrial power generation equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a passport.
• Flexibility to travel extensively within the U.S. and internationally.
• Ideally 3–5 years in a related technical or industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative and corrective maintenance on CHP and power generation equipment.

• Carry out component replacement and major maintenance tasks.

• Work from schematics and technical docs; perform testing and calibration.
• Provide technical support to customers by phone when needed.
• Complete detailed service reports and maintain records.
• Work with customers to ensure safe, reliable operation of equipment.
• Collaborate with wider technical team and OEMs to resolve issues.
• Participate in on-call service rotation.

Service Technician

We are currently working with a leading business within the energy and power generation sector, who are looking to add experienced Service Technicians to their growing U.S. team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technician with experience working on CHP, gas engines, generators, power generation or similar industrial equipment to join an established organisation and work on a variety of technically challenging equipment across the United States.

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of CHP and power generation systems at customer sites.

The role will involve:

• Carrying out planned preventative and corrective maintenance on CHP and power generation equipment.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Attending reactive breakdowns and unscheduled service calls.
• Servicing natural gas and biogas engines, generator sets and associated equipment.
• Carrying out component replacement and major maintenance activities.
• Supporting engine overhauls and refurbishment projects.
• Fault-finding across engines, generators, control systems, relays, protective devices and associated equipment.
• Working from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Carrying out electrical and mechanical testing and equipment calibration.
• Providing technical support to customers by telephone when required.
• Completing detailed service reports and maintaining accurate service records.
• Working directly with customers to ensure equipment is operating safely, reliably and efficiently.
• Working closely with the wider technical team and OEMs to resolve complex technical issues.
• Participating in an on-call service rotation.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Service Technician, Generator Technician, Engine Technician, CHP Technician, Power Generation Technician or similar.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working with gas engines, generators, CHP or industrial power generation equipment.
• The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach.
• The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• A valid U.S. driver's licence.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a passport.
• Flexibility to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally when required.
• Ideally, 3-5 years' experience within a related technical or industrial environment.
