Job summary

Owen Daniels in the United States seeks an experienced Service Technician to service CHP and power generation systems across customer sites. You will perform maintenance, fault-finding and repairs on gas engines, generators and related equipment, ensuring safety, reliability and efficiency.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in a technical environment, strong mechanical/electrical skills, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Service/Generator/CHP technician or similar.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Proven skills reading electrical schematics and diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, fault-find and repair CHP and power systems at customer sites.
  • Carry out planned and corrective maintenance on equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and attend reactive breakdowns when required.
  • Travel across the United States; support engine overhauls and refurbishments.
  • Complete service reports and keep accurate records.

Service Technician

We are currently working with a leading business within the energy and power generation sector, who are looking to add experienced Service Technicians to their growing U.S. team.


This is a fantastic opportunity for a technician with experience working on CHP, gas engines, generators, power generation or similar industrial equipment to join an established organisation and work on a variety of technically challenging equipment across the United States.


As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of CHP and power generation systems at customer sites.


The role will involve:


  • Carrying out planned preventative and corrective maintenance on CHP and power generation equipment.

  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.

  • Attending reactive breakdowns and unscheduled service calls.

  • Servicing natural gas and biogas engines, generator sets and associated equipment.

  • Carrying out component replacement and major maintenance activities.

  • Supporting engine overhauls and refurbishment projects.

  • Fault-finding across engines, generators, control systems, relays, protective devices and associated equipment.

  • Working from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.

  • Carrying out electrical and mechanical testing and equipment calibration.

  • Providing technical support to customers by telephone when required.

  • Completing detailed service reports and maintaining accurate service records.

  • Working directly with customers to ensure equipment is operating safely, reliably and efficiently.

  • Working closely with the wider technical team and OEMs to resolve complex technical issues.

  • Participating in an on-call service rotation.


You will ideally have:


  • Previous experience as a Service Technician, Generator Technician, Engine Technician, CHP Technician, Power Generation Technician or similar.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.

  • Experience working with gas engines, generators, CHP or industrial power generation equipment.

  • The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.

  • Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach.

  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

  • A valid U.S. driver's licence.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a passport.

  • Flexibility to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally when required.

  • Ideally, 3-5 years' experience within a related technical or industrial environment.
