VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a 12-hour night shift at Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer, Michigan. The role operates within a correctional health care setting, collaborating with physicians and security staff to deliver essential medical services.

Qualified candidates will have an accredited NP/PA program, state licensure, and a willingness to work in a correctional environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited college/university NP / PA program.
• Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of employment.
• Experience in Correctional desired but not required.
• Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for physician assistants / Nurse Practitioner in the healthcare unit.

Responsibilities

• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
• Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
• Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
• Attends training and meetings as required.
