VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS) has an opening for a Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant at Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This is a 12 hour night shift, requiring every other weekend and every other holiday.

The NP/PA will work in a correctional environment, providing ambulatory care under a physician, serving inmates with a focus on quality, compassionate care in a secure setting.

Qualifikationen

• Graduate of an accredited NP/PA program.
• Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of employment.
• Experience in Correctional desired but not required.
• Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for physician assistants / Nurse Practitioner in the healthcare unit.

Aufgaben

• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
• Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
• Attends training and meetings as required.
