Job summary

Clear Point Consultants seeks a Senior Media Player Engineer to lead reliable video playback experiences across streaming and connected devices in the United States. You’ll own performance, reliability, and cross‑platform consistency from HTML5 video to device platforms.

You’ll tackle buffering, crashes, memory and performance challenges, build telemetry and diagnostic tooling, and collaborate with backend teams to optimize delivery and observability across Roku, Android TV, Samsung Tizen, LG

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience in video, streaming, or media playback.
• Strong hands-on experience with HTML5 video, HLS, and adaptive bitrate streaming.
• Experience developing for connected-device platforms (Roku, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Android TV, Fire TV).
• Understanding of video encoding, packaging, and streaming technologies.

Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Media Player Engineer to join a team focused on building reliable video playback experiences across streaming and connected devices.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who understands what it takes to make video playback perform consistently across different platforms, devices, and network conditions.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and improve video playback applications across web and connected-device platforms
• Work with HTML5 video, HLS, adaptive bitrate streaming, and media delivery
• Troubleshoot complex playback issues including buffering, crashes, freezes, memory and performance problems
• Build monitoring, telemetry, and diagnostic capabilities to improve playback reliability
• Work with backend services and observability tools to understand system performance
• Test and optimize applications on real-world streaming devices
• Help define technical solutions and improve overall platform architecture
• Collaborate closely with other engineers and technical stakeholders

What We’re Looking For:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience in video, streaming, or media playback
• Strong hands-on experience with HTML5 video, HLS, and adaptive bitrate streaming
• Experience developing for one or more connected-device platforms such as Roku, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Android TV, or Fire TV
• Strong understanding of video encoding, packaging, and streaming technologies
• Experience troubleshooting difficult production issues involving video playback and device performance
• Experience with telemetry, monitoring, logging, dashboards, and application observability
• Comfortable working across both client-side and backend technologies
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently through ambiguous technical challenges

Experience with digital signage, OTT, connected TV, advertising technology, device fleets, or other long-running/embedded applications is a plus.
