Responsibilities

• Clinical Data Mapping & Transformation: Design and implement data mapping and transformation specifications for various clinical data standards and medical coding terminologies.
• Interoperability Standards Implementation: Work extensively with FHIR and HL7 messaging standards to ingest, parse, and structure clinical data.
• Standardized Health Data Models: Map and transform raw clinical data into common data models, such as OMOP CDM, to support analytics and research.
• Medical Coding Integration: Leverage and manage ICD-10, LOINC, RxNorm, and SNOMED CT, ensuring semantic consistency and accuracy.
• Pipeline Development & Maintenance: Build scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to process large-scale healthcare datasets securely.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Data Engineer to join our data engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust clinical data pipelines, mapping frameworks, and transformation specifications. You will bridge the gap between complex healthcare data standards and modern data platforms, ensuring seamless interoperability and high data quality across our healthcare analytics ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Data Mapping & Transformation: Design and implement comprehensive data mapping and transformation specifications for various clinical data standards and medical coding terminologies.


• Interoperability Standards Implementation: Work extensively with FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) and HL7 messaging standards to ingest, parse, and structure clinical data.


• Standardized Health Data Models: Map and transform raw clinical data into common data models, such as OMOP (Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership), to support advanced analytics and research.


• Medical Coding Integration: Leverage and manage standard medical terminologies and coding systems, including ICD-10, LOINC, RxNorm, and SNOMED CT, ensuring semantic consistency and accuracy across datasets.


• Pipeline Development & Maintenance: Build scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to process large-scale healthcare datasets efficiently and securely.


• Collaboration: Partner with clinical informatics, data science, and software engineering teams to understand data requirements and deliver reliable data assets.

Required Qualifications & Core Skills

• Clinical Data Expertise: Proven experience in clinical data mapping, data integration, and writing detailed transformation specifications.


• Interoperability Standards: Deep working knowledge of FHIR and HL7 standards.


• Common Data Models: Hands-on experience with the OMOP CDM or similar healthcare observational data models.


• Medical Coding & Terminologies: Strong familiarity with medical coding systems including ICD-10, LOINC, RxNorm, and SNOMED CT.


• Technical Proficiency: Experience with modern data engineering tooling, SQL, and programming languages commonly used for data manipulation.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate certification or equivalent hands‑on experience with Databricks/Spark in healthcare environments.


• Advanced experience with FHIR/HL7 server integrations and API development.


• Background in R or SAS for statistical computing, clinical data analysis, or cohort discovery.
