Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; experience with special needs preferred.
• Must be able to relate well with students, staff and parents.
• Strong office, computer, and oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices requested.
• Willingness to supervise students in community settings.
• Must participate in training provided by Special Education Department.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous or designated one-to-one support to the assigned student.
• Assist the student in accessing instruction and school routines.
• Modify or adapt materials as directed by licensed staff.
• Reinforce academic concepts and skills previously taught.
• Provide prompts, cues, and reinforcement per the educational plan.
• Support the student’s communication across classroom and school environments.
• Assist with augmentative communication tools and visual supports.
• Foster appropriate social interaction and peer engagement.
• Reduce prompts as directed and encourage independence.
• Maintain student safety and confidentiality.
