Job summary

Fort Wayne Community Schools Towles Intermediate in Fort Wayne, IN, is seeking a Part-Time Special Education Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. The 5.5-hour 1:1 autistic disability support position requires flexibility and a proactive, student-centered approach.

Shifts typically run between 7:15am and 3:30pm with duties including instructional and clerical support, student supervision, and assistance with daily life activities across classrooms.

Qualifications

• Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Prefer candidate with experience working with students with special needs.
• Must have strong office, computer, and written/oral communication skills.
• Must be willing to supervise students in community settings.
• Must participate in training provided by Special Education Department.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with instructional, clerical, student management, and daily life activities.
• Support special education students in classrooms or general settings.
• Maintain positive interactions with students, staff, and parents.
