Job summary

TrulyHired is seeking an Education Aide to support students with disabilities under supervision of the Building Principal and Special Education Supervisor. The role runs 7.5 hours daily, Monday through Friday, with starting salary of $18.24 per hour.

The Education Aide will assist with classroom activities, implement behavior management strategies, and maintain accurate records while fostering a safe learning environment in Cleveland.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 48 college semester hours or PRAXIS PARAPRO exam.
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.
• Must pass the No Child Left Behind educational requirements.
• Able to apply for Educational Aide Permit with Ohio DOE.
• Ability to work with students who may display challenging behavior.
• Effective communication of ideas and directives.
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills.

Reports To: Building Principal/Special Education Supervisor

Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday

Salary: $18.24 starting annual salary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a minimum of 48 semester hours of secondary education or have passed the PRAXIS PARAPRO exam
• One or two years related experience working with students with disabilities is preferred
• Must pass the written test or meet the educational requirements of the "No Child Left Behind Act"
• Ability to meet the requirements and apply for an Educational Aide Permit with the Ohio Department of Education
• Ability to work effectively with students, this may include students who display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior
• Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively
• Organizational and problem solving skills
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations
• Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students
• Knowledge and ability to apply behavior management techniques in enforcing school discipline in an appropriate context
• Must possess the physical strength and ability required to lift, assist restrain, or pursue handicapped students
• Clerical skills; including knowledge of office machines
• Previous experience working with computers preferred
• Maintains a good attendance record and is punctual
