Job summary

The School District of West Allis-West Milwaukee is seeking a 1:1 Children's Health Assistant to support students with disabilities in personal care and school activities, under the direction of the classroom teacher.

This role emphasizes inclusion and success in the classroom, requires appropriate licenses (DPI Special Education Educational Assistant, CNA), experience with disabilities, and CPR/First Aid/Pro-Act certifications provided by the District.

Qualifications

Must hold Wisconsin DPI Special Education Educational Assistant license.
Must have Certified Nursing Assistant license.
One year experience with individuals with disabilities.
Must meet Title One ParaProfessional Highly Qualified Requirements.
CPR/First Aid Certification provided by District.
Pro-Act Certification provided by District.

Responsibilities

Assist students with disabilities in activities of daily living.
Lift students for personal care needs.
Operate medical equipment (Hoyer lifts, standing frames, etc.).
Assist wheelchair users in accessing buildings and community.
Help students board and exit buses safely.
Support students in academic and non-academic activities under teacher guidance.
Assist with IEP/504-related activities as needed.
Accompany students on field trips and community outings.
Clean classroom equipment and supplies.
Support district mission and strategic plan.
Attend meetings and professional development opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
