Job summary

New York City Public Schools is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for 1:1 school-based care in NYC public schools for the 2026-2027 year. This 1099 independent contractor role focuses on medically fragile students.

Typical schedule is aligned with the school day, generally 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with no nights or weekends. Responsibilities include direct nursing care, seizure and diabetes management, G-tube feeding support, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Active NYS RN license.
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Pediatric, school-based, home care, or community-based experience preferred.
• Strong communication and independent clinical judgment.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one nursing services to a medically fragile student throughout the school day.
• Support students with needs that may include seizure care, diabetes management, G-tube feeding, suctioning, oxygen administration, ventilator support, pulse oximetry, medication administration, and other skilled interventions.
• Ride the bus with the student if required by the assignment.
• Partner with school personnel, family members, and care teams.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with DOE and NYS requirements.
