Job Summary:This position is designed to promote and maintain the health and well-being of students in the classroom setting to enable them to take full advantage of available educational opportunities. In addition, this position will assist the classroom teacher in meeting the physical and health care needs for medically fragile and special needs students during the school day.
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training or equivalent is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Delegate and monitor health care tasks that can be conducted by or delegated to unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) according to district policy, the state nurse practice act and using professional judgment as a licensed registered nurse.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the School Principal and Supervisor of Nursing Services.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working as a registered nurse can be a physically demanding job with frequent interruptions. The degree of physical activity may vary depending on the student population and building environment. Registered nurses may spend their workday on their feet, standing, and walking or sitting. Registered nurses may also need to be able to perform tasks that require bending, stretching, and lifting, or adjusting medical equipment. Fine motor dexterity requirements may be necessary for medication administration and injections, putting on gloves, performing medical procedures, work with computerized records, and complete paperwork. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. May be exposed to communicable disease and bodily secretions.
Current Washington State licensure as a Registered Nurse
Current certification in first aid and CPR; Current Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)/ automated external defibrillator (AED) certification.
Pediatric, adolescent, or school nursing experience preferred.
Ability to read, write, and communicate, effectively. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and English; ability to independently perform a health assessment; perform clean intermittent catheterization; provide gastrostomy tube feedings, deep tracheal suctioning, tracheostomy, and respiratory care; ability to operate a computer and learn specific software programs used to chart medical information in a school setting; ability to read, write, speak, communicate, and compute effectively; knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and English usage; ability to organize and set priorities; ability to exercise independent judgment, remain flexible, and work effectively under pressure; ability to maintain confidential information and records; ability to interact with children in a warm, confident manner; ability to supervise others; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community; demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
Salary:Salary is based upon the current ESP Collective Bargaining Agreement. Rate of pay will be in accordance with the currentESP salary schedule (Level III , 2025/26 ESP Salary Schedule ). FLSA Non-Exempt.

Benefits:Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB) and a Washington state retirement package, for eligible positions. Generally, you are eligible for SEBB benefits if you are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31).
