Job summary

UKCIL Ltd. in Bowburn, DH6 is seeking a dedicated Personal Assistant to support an 8-year-old girl with Autism Spectrum Disorder and sensory needs. The role requires 1-to-1 supervision, safety, personal care and engaging sensory activities in home and community settings.

Pay is £13.50 per hour plus mileage (£0.45 per mile). Hours up to 4 per week in term time and up to 8 per week during school holidays. DBS enhanced check required (employer will cover).

Qualifications

• Experience with Autism (ASD) / SEN / Sensory Needs is ESSENTIAL.
• Creativity in inventing sensory activities and safety awareness regarding mouthing risks.
• High level of patience, energy, and a calm, playful approach.
• Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle preferred.
• Experience or understanding of Gestalt Language Processing (GLP), speech delay, or bilingual communication is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Create and supervise sensory play activities at home and in the garden.
• Maintain 1-to-1 supervision for safety and mouthing risks.
• Take the child to local parks and swings using car or on foot.
• Ensure total physical safety during outings and transitions.
• Support sensory regulation and provide a calm environment during transitions.
