Job summary

Kingsbury Country Day School, part of Choice Schools, is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs on a 1:1 basis. You will document daily IEP progress and collaborate with the Special Education team to assist instruction and organize materials.

Ideal candidates will have college credits or an associate degree, strong communication, and evidence of excellent work habits.

Qualifications

• Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); or obtain an associate's degree (or higher); or meet a rigorous standard and pass the Parapro Assessment.
• Knowledge of and the ability to assist in reading, writing and mathematics; or readiness for those subjects.
• Ability to communicate with students, staff and guardians in a professional manner.
• Excellent verbal and written expression using proper grammar and vocabulary.
• Exemplary work habits verified by previous employers.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides 1:1 support to students with disabilities.
• Completes daily documentation of students with IEPs.
• Works with the Special Education team to support students.
• Helps the classroom teacher organize and distribute lesson materials.
• Assists in supporting instruction and engaging students in learning.
• Uses resources effectively to support learning activities in the classroom and community.
• Demonstrates effective classroom techniques and promotes respectful, independent thinking.
• Assists in assessing learner needs, progress and achievement.
• Maintains individual student records when asked.
• Assumes other responsibilities assigned by teachers or school leaders.
