Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with college credit or an associate's degree.
• Parapro assessment may be used to demonstrate instructional support knowledge.
• Ability to assist in instruction under supervision of the special education teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
• Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
• Assist teacher with instructional activities.
• Escort students from room to room.
• Toileting students is sometimes required.
• Involves work with both special education and regular students.
• Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP.
• Supervise students while they are at recess and lunch.
• Assist students with classroom assignments.
• Copy materials for instructional purposes.
• Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork.
• Alert teachers to problems that may be observed.
• May require supporting with toileting of students
• PMT required
