Job summary

McMinnville School District seeks a 1:1 Student Assistant (Life Skills) at McMinnville High School to support licensed teachers in delivering the educational program and ensuring a safe, healthy learning environment.

The role focuses on specialized program support for students with severe needs, including supervision, instruction, and assisting in implementing IEP-driven activities. Strong teamwork and adherence to district policies are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience Required: Prior job related experience, paid or volunteer, with school age children.
• Education Required: Completed associates or higher degree, completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education or demonstrated knowledge of reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Oregon Department of Education Fingerprint Clearance.
• Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak before groups.
• Reasoning Ability - Solve problems and interpret instructions.
• Other skills - Works well with others, maintains confidentiality, listens to others, and builds team spirit.
• Able to be trained in instructional and behavior intervention methodologies, and in safety and medication procedures.

Responsibilities

• Works under the supervision of a licensed teacher or administrator.
• Implements behavior support plans and maintains progress reports.
• Assists with one-on-one and small group instruction and tutoring.
• May assist with health services and daily living tasks.
• Promotes safety and supports IEP planning and meetings.
