Job summary

Moses Lake High School, part of Moses Lake School District 161, is hiring for a Paraeducator Life Skills 1:1 (Behavioral). The role focuses on providing tailored 1:1 support, behavioral and academic assistance, and collaboration with the student’s case manager to promote successful participation in learning activities.

The position requires punctuality, the ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced setting, and compliance with district safety and training requirements including Safety Care.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have earned 72 college level credits from an accredited institution, have a college degree, or be able to pass the ETS Assessment.
• Previous experience working with students in both individual and small group instructional situations.
• Working knowledge of education fundamentals; training and experience using current curriculum preferred.
• Previous experience and/or training working with students in a classroom setting.
• Must have proven ability to complete tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to manage large groups of students in an unstructured environment while maintaining a high level of safety.
• Must have proven record of punctuality and consistent attendance.
• Must be willing and able to assist students with personal management, including toileting, changing, eating, and other personal hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized 1:1 Life Skills support tailored to the student's IEP.
• Offer behavioral and academic support to promote learning and emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with the case manager and staff to implement strategies.
• Maintain open communication with supervising teacher and document progress.
• Help students develop independence and self-management skills.
• Follow the Behavior Intervention Plan and use de-escalation techniques.
• Participate in Safety Care Behavioral Safety Training and ongoing professional development.
• Ensure safety and confidentiality per district policies.
