Job summary

Elmwood Elementary School in Elmwood Park, IL is seeking a 1:1 Instructional Paraprofessional to assist licensed staff in meeting instructional goals for at-risk students and those with IEPs. The position is 10 months and supervised by the building principal and the director of student services.

Under direct supervision, you will support classroom instruction, manage behavior, assist with materials, and help students with daily activities to maximize engagement and success.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Paraprofessional license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to content-area and functional skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Supports students' transitions within the classroom and building.
• Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
• Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and keep students on task.
• Supervises students during lunch and other non-instructional times as needed.
• Creates and distributes educational materials as required.
• Assists students with special needs to maximize success and achievement of IEP goals.

Education
