Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred additional education in education, special education, or related field).
• Experience with children, especially with special needs, is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
• Ability to work collaboratively and follow directions from teachers and specialists.
• Basic understanding of instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
• Ability to adapt to various learning styles and modify approaches as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to the assigned student in academic tasks and engagement with curriculum.
• Assist the student in developing social skills and emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt lesson plans and materials for the student.
• Monitor progress and maintain records; report to teachers and parents as needed.
• Implement strategies outlined in the student’s IEP.
• Create a safe, supportive learning environment that fosters independence.
• Participate in professional development related to special education and student support.
• Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and staff to ensure cohesive approach.
