Job summary

Rutherford County Schools in Forest City, NC is seeking classroom support staff to assist with individualized and group instruction aligned to student IEP goals. You will implement reading, math, and social skills programs, record progress, and present material using varied methods under teacher supervision.

The role includes supervising off-campus activities, assisting with learning aids and technology, and performing routine clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and group instruction based on student IEP goals/objectives under the supervision of the teacher.
• Implement research-based reading, math, and social skill programs.
• Record progress and collect data for behavioral, social, communication and academic skills as needed.
• Present subject matter to students using a variety of methods and techniques as directed by the teacher.
• Prepare, administer, and grade student assignments.
• Provide supervision during off-campus activities such as field trips and inclusion activities.
• Assist students in using learning aids, communication devices, assistive technology, and other equipment.
• Perform routine clerical tasks including attendance, lunch reports, and in-house reports as needed.
• Assist teachers in preparing home-school communication.
• Make teacher-made materials and develop bulletin boards.
• Maintain inventory of classroom materials and equipment.
• Demonstrate basic computer proficiency for routine clerical duties.
• General Classroom Assistance: supervise groups and support crisis plan procedures.
• Specialized Care: carry out physical care routines, administer medications, use feeding equipment, and assistive devices.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and model professional behavior.
• Advocate for student needs in communication with school staff and community.
