Bank Street College of Education seeks a 1:1 aide to support inclusion of a special needs child in an integrated classroom. Under the direction of the teacher, you will implement developmentally appropriate, child-centered activities, model positive interactions, and help maintain a safe, orderly environment.

This part-time position in New York City requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and experience with special needs children is preferred. Rate: $17–$19/hour.

Qualifications

• This position requires a college degree in early childhood education (preferred).
• Experience working with special needs children is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills are essential for collaboration with staff and families.
• Strong organizational skills are important to manage materials and routines.

Responsabilités

• Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all children in the program with a focus on the special needs child to which the aide is assigned by providing close supervision during all activities.
• Assist in carrying out stimulating lesson plans promoting exploration, creativity, and discovery.
• Assist in preparing materials and maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment.
• Attend all therapy sessions which the child the aide is assigned to attend.
• Attend all required trainings, supervisory meetings and other professional development workshops.
• Work cooperatively with other teachers, therapists and administrators.
• Ensure that all Bank Street College and NYC Department of Health/Bureau of Day Care guidelines are followed.
• Other duties as assigned by Director.
