Job summary
Dominion Care is hiring an experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Newport News, VA, for a full-time 7:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule with optional overtime on weekends. The role provides dedicated 1:1 support in home and community settings, helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live more independent lives and engage meaningfully in their communities.
The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation; 1
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record required.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to help individuals become more independent and achieve goals.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming.
- Assist with transportation, shopping, budgeting, and community activities.
- Monitor health needs and assist with medication management when applicable.
- Maintain documentation and time records; report concerns.
- Maintain professional boundaries with individuals and families.
