Job summary

Carthage Central School District is seeking a dedicated school-based paraprofessional to support classroom objectives and student IEP goals. Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities, assignments and materials under the supervising teacher's direction to support objectives and IEP goals.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support student needs in the classroom.
• Assist students with personal care needs (e.g., diapering, lifting, transitioning).
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations as requested.
• Escort students in various settings (bathroom, hallway, etc.).
• Assist supervising teachers with tasks as requested.
• Implement research-based interventions and behavior plans under supervision.
• Maintain instructional materials and ensure needed items are available.
• Monitor student schedules and behavior plans as necessary.
• Provide instruction to students in individual and group activities to reinforce objectives and IEPs.
• Supervise groups of students in multiple settings (field trips, cafeteria, etc.).
• Prepare learning environment to enable participation in activities.
• Attend problem-solving/IEP meetings and provide input on progress.
• Collect data on IEP/individual goals as requested.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

SALARY: $21.89 to $30.65 (commensurate with experience)

DESCRIPTION:

M-F 6.5 hours per day

REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities Include:

• Adapting classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher(s) as requested to support reinforce classroom objectives, student/IEP goals, etc.
• Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc. as requested to support student needs in the classroom
• Assists students (e.g. diapering, lifting, transitioning, etc.) as necessary to attend to student's personal hygiene and care needs
• Attends meetings and in-service presentations as requested
• Escorts student(s) (e.g. bathroom, classroom, hallway, etc.) as necessary
• Assistssupervising teacher(s) with tasks as requested
• Implements, under the supervision of assigned teacher(s), research based interventions and/or behavior plans
• Maintains instructional materials and ensures availability of necessary items for student to be successful
• Monitors student's daily schedule and behavior plan as necessary
• Provides, under the supervision of assigned teacher(s), instruction to student(s) in a variety of individual and group activities to reinforce instructional objectives, to implement IEP plans, etc.
• Supervises individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. field trips, hallways, bus loading areas, cafeteria, assemblies, classrooms, etc.)
• Assists in preparing the learning environment to allow the student to participate in classroom activities
• Attends any problem solving/IEP meetings as requested and provides input as to the student's progress
• Collects data on the student's IEP/individual goals as requested
• Performs other related duties as assigned
