Job Description

Position Objective: The person in this role is responsible for providing support to the teachers, parents/guardians, and students with a specific responsibility and focus on assisting in the evaluation of students with disabilities or of students with suspected disabilities. The primary role within this position is to conduct evaluations, participate in Team meetings, be an active participant in our Building Based Support Teams and provide creative and thoughtful recommendations to aid in student success. The school psychologist will collaborate with families, educators, and community partners to create a safe, structured, and inclusive school environment where every student can thrive, while upholding district policies, and professional standards.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, schedule, and complete all psychological and educational achievement assessments and evaluations (including but not limited to cognitive/WISC and achievement/WIAT, BASC, Connors, etc.)
  • Prepare professional psychological and psychoeducational reports and present the findings and recommendations at TEAM meetings
  • Collaborate and consult with administration, parents, outside providers, teachers, other school psychologists and counselors throughout the District on related topics
  • Conduct classroom observations when appropriate
  • Contribute to the development of IEP’s, FBA’s and BIP’s as appropriate, as well as data collection tools
  • Complete specific learning disability eligibility paperwork when applicable
  • Participate in and contribute to Building Based Support Teams (BBST)
  • Consult with Director of Student Services, Administrators, Parents, Outside Providers, Teachers, other School Psychologists and School Counselors as to student/programming needs and educational/emotional interventions to promote student success
  • Provide professional development to staff on relevant issues in the field
  • Advocate for programming and practices that ensure all students—including those with special needs or ELLs—have access to support and learning opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate testing records while complying with all confidentiality and privacy regulations
  • Meet all legal timelines for testing and other educational processes
  • Uphold the district’s commitment to providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individuals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school or district administration.
Required Qualifications
  • Massachusetts DESE licensure as a school psychologist
  • Master’s Degree
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting school-based evaluations
  • Experience presenting evaluation reports at a team meeting
  • Experience developing IEP’s and participating in the special education eligibility process
  • Familiarity with 504 plans, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and strategies for supporting students with disabilities or English as a Second Language
  • Strong skills in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and restorative practices
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community partners
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices in a school environment
  • Dedication to professional growth and staying current with research-based practices in school counseling and student support

Salary & Terms of Employment: In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Collective Bargaining Agreement. Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding. Salary Range: $51,273 - $100,238
