Position: 1.0 Middle School Teacher (Grades 5-6)- LTS

Location: Boyce Middle School

Dates of Assignment: 10-08-26 through 03-29-27

Summary:

To facilitate student mastery of designated subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, capable, and responsible individuals. The successful candidate will foster a motivating classroom environment, establish effective rapport with students, and maintain collaborative partnerships with parents and colleagues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach district-approved curriculum.
• Plan a program of study and develop lesson plans and instructional material that is developmentally appropriate, as well as meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior, maintain discipline and utilize appropriate classroom management techniques.
• Evaluate and support students' academic and social growth, seeking the assistance of district specialists, as required.
• Maintain proactive and consistent communication with students, families, and school leadership to support student progress and address emerging needs.
• Cooperate and collaborate with other staff members.
• Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs.
• Follow district policy, guidelines, regulations and procedures, as well as, maintain confidentiality according to law and policy.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and valid teaching certificate in identified content area.
• PA teaching certificate - (Elementary K-6 and/or Grades 4-8)
• Experience in teaching grades 5 and 6 preferred.
• Excellent teaching and classroom management skills.
• Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administration and parents.
• Effective oral and written communication.
