Job Overview
Paraprofessionals assigned to Special Education Programs with intensive needs will be eligible for an annual pay differential of $2000 additional annual salary, distributed to the hourly rate of the salary placement.
To be eligible, staff must complete district-funded RBT training (40 hours asynchronous with BCBA oversight) within the required timeframe. Some full day and early release PD time may be used for this.
Responsibilities
- Primarily responsible for direct implementation of treatment plans related to skill acquisition and behavior reduction.
- Assist in delivering behavior-analytic services under the direction and close supervision of a BCBA.
- Collaborate with team members to determine modifications, accommodations, and assessment approaches necessary for student success.
- Work with a team to support students in an academic environment.
- Collect data across different skills and behaviors daily.
- Implement and oversee student behavior plans.
- Promote generalization of students’ acquired skills.
- Assist the BCBA in implementing behavioral programming.
- Create an environment conducive to student learning.
- Direct and assist with toileting and toilet training as needed.
- Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate opportunities using the MTSS framework.
- Meet and instruct assigned students as designated.
- Guide learning toward achievement of curriculum standards, establishing clear objectives that reflect these standards for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Implement the district's mission, philosophy of education, and instructional standards and objectives.
- Document progress and/or concerns and seek assistance from additional district specialists as required.
- Monitor and supervise students through effective classroom management.
- Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
- Use innovative approaches, instructional strategies, including effective use of technology, to increase student learning and confidence.
- Follow professional practices consistent with district policies in working with students, parents, and colleagues; attend and participate in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings.
- Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events and self‑generated activities meeting district expectations and recertification requirements.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence as it relates to specific assignment and student grade/subject area appropriateness.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
- Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for learning, including specific strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and English Learners.
- Perform other duties assigned by the building principal or Director of Student Services.
