Job summary

Kosmos Group is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer in Istanbul, Türkiye. The role focuses on routing and design of high‑voltage transmission lines, sag-tension calculations, and project leadership within our Transmission & Distribution practice.

The successful candidate will lead design efforts, coordinate with engineers of record, and provide field support during construction. Minimum 3 years of experience and PE licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
• California Professional Engineer license.
• Minimum 3 years of transmission line design.
• PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole proficiency.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Travel may be required up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Routing and design of transmission lines using PLS software.
• Perform sag-tension calculations and structure loading trees.
• Develop design criteria and procurement specifications.
• Prepare construction documents and plan/profile drawings.
• Provide field support during construction and act as Engineer of Record for smaller projects.
• Provide technical leadership and client relationship development.

Kosmos Group is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm with a primary specialization in power generation, transmission, and distribution. Kosmos Group strives to provide engineering services to public and private utility companies, consultants, and contractors taking part in the design and construction of power generation facilities, transmission lines, and substations, across the United States and Canada. We offer solutions from feasibility studies and full engineering design services to closeout and preparation of as-built records.

Our Transmission Engineering team is looking for a Transmission Line Engineer to support our growing Transmission & Distribution practice in Istanbul, Türkiye. This is an on-site position, working 5 days per week in the office. The successful candidate will be involved in all facets of transmission line routing and design.

Job Description

The primary duties include:

• Routing and design of transmission lines utilizing Power Line Systems software
• Sag tension calculation for transmission tower loading. Structure design and analysis and preparing loading trees
• Developing design criteria and specifications for the transmission line design and procurement of materials
• Project cost estimating and quality control reviews
• Should be familiar with industry codes and standards and have experience as the technical lead on projects
• Assist Engineer of Record in preparing construction documents including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation and assembly drawings
• Assist Engineer of Record with complex projects and be the Engineer of Record for smaller projects
• Assist the Engineer of Record in preparing specifications and project design criteria
• Provide construction support for high voltage transmission line project
• Looking for a seller-doer with the ability to develop client relationships
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members
• Provide field support during construction
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college
• California Professional Engineer license
• Minimum 3 years of transmission line design
• Must have PLS-CADD expertise and PLS-Pole
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Travel may be required up to 10% of the time

Preferred

• Field transmission construction experience
• PLS-Tower experience preferred
• Underground line design experience is a plus
• Distribution design is a plus
