Job summary

Altınay Defense Technologies is seeking a Senior / Systems Engineer to lead battery and energy storage system projects for defense applications. You will guide the full lifecycle from concept design through validation, mass production, and field deployment, collaborating with Mechanical, Electronics, Software, Quality and Production teams.

The role requires strong systems engineering expertise, experience with Li-ion cells and BMS, and proficient English for technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in EE, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
• At least 3 years working with battery systems and high-voltage power distribution.
• Strong grasp of V-Model, requirements analysis, design, testing, validation.
• Experience with lithium-ion cells and BMS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and derive system requirements for battery and energy storage systems across land, naval, aerial, and unmanned platforms.
• Ensure traceability of system and subsystem requirements throughout the lifecycle.
• Contribute to design, integration, testing, and validation of BMS and power/thermal systems.
• Conduct lab and field testing, commissioning, and platform integration activities.
• Support mass production issues and write production/assembly instructions with DFM.
• Participate in ECR/ECO, RCA, and lifecycle sustainability activities.
• Prepare and execute test plans per MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 and related standards.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Electronics, Software, Quality and Production teams.

Senior / Systems Engineer – Battery & Energy Storage Systems

As Altınay Savunma Teknolojileri, we are looking for a Senior / Systems Engineer to join our Battery and Energy Storage Systems (BESS/ESS) projects developed for the defense industry.

In this role, you will play an active part throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept design and system integration to testing and validation, mass production, field commissioning, and product lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and develop system requirements for battery and energy storage systems designed for land, naval, aerial, and unmanned platforms.
• Ensure traceability of system and subsystem requirements.
• Contribute to the design, integration, testing, and validation processes of BMS, high-/low-voltage power distribution systems, and thermal management systems.
• Conduct testing, commissioning, and platform integration activities in both laboratory and field environments.
• Support the resolution of technical issues encountered during mass production processes.
• Contribute to the preparation of production and assembly instructions and apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
• Conduct ECR/ECO, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and technical sustainability activities throughout the product lifecycle.
• Prepare and execute test plans in accordance with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and relevant battery safety and validation standards.
• Work collaboratively with Mechanical, Electronics, Software, Quality, and Production teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Control & Automation Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in battery systems, Li-ion cell technologies, BMS, or high-voltage power distribution systems.
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering processes, including requirements analysis, V-Model, architectural design, testing, and validation.
• Good understanding of the operating principles, types, and electrical/chemical characteristics of lithium-ion cells.
• Ability to perform practical energy, power, and electrical sizing calculations.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN Bus, Modbus, Ethernet, etc.
• Experience with system modeling and simulation tools.
• Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, or relevant military battery safety and validation standards.
• Good command of English, particularly for technical documentation and communication.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
• Willingness to take an active role in field activities.
• No restrictions on travel and ability to adapt to flexible working conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on energy storage system projects for land, naval, aerial, or unmanned platforms.
• Field experience in FAT and SAT processes.
• Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA and Root Cause Analysis activities.
• Knowledge of battery safety standards and safe design solutions.
• Strong interest in and awareness of current battery and energy storage technologies.
