Job summary

Sibelco Turkey Madencilik Tic A.S. is seeking a Senior Engineer Automation Actions to lead programming, optimization, maintenance and repair of plant automation and control systems at our Ali Pasa site.

You will guide colleagues, support improvement requests, and drive automation projects, with hands-on work on PLCs, DCS, and SCADA. English and Turkish fluency required; mining experience is a plus; permanent, on-site role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical, Programming, Instrument, Computer).
• 3-4 years of automation project experience with field instruments and sensors.
• Understanding of mining and mineral processing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation and digitalization activities across sites while ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Research and develop cost-effective, efficient automation solutions.
• Stay updated on new engineering technologies and AI tools.
• Support Central Digitalization and Automation Team as interface.
• Maintain and repair automation systems, instrumentation, and interfaces.
• Diagnose faults in PLCs, DCS, and SCADA; update hardware and software.
• Collaborate with contractors and site teams on automation projects.

Job Description

As the Senior Engineer Automation Actions, you will be in charge of programming, optimizing, maintaining and repairing plant automation & control systems to optimize and continuously improve the operational process. You will also provide guidance and technical advice to colleagues and assisting them with improvement requests & automation projects. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Automation Engineer to join team to work in our new, state of the art plant in Ali Pasa and move our operation towards the future.

Your Impact in This Role As the Automation Engineer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Lead Automation & Digitalization activities in Cine to ensure compliance with Sibelco regulations and with other requirements & constraints
• Continuous improvement by researching and developing new ideas or solutions that contribute to create systems in a cost-effective and efficient way
• Stay up to date with new engineering technologies (such as AI tools) and innovation in the industry
• Act as an Engineering & Operational interface to support Central Digitalization and Automation Team
• Optimize, maintain, and repair the automation systems & instrumentation according to defined procedures, frequencies, and standards
• Maintain the systems from a hardware, software, and process instrumentation point of view
• Diagnose faults in automation systems and fix issues with PLCs, DCS, and SCADA
• Keep PLCs, field instruments and control interfaces in good shape
• Execute and follow the calibrations of the used instrumentation
• Apply the prescribed safety rules and execute LMRA (Last Minute Risk Assessment)
• Establish good professional relations with Contractors and keep in close contact with the contractors on the different Sibelco sites

What You Bring to the Table

• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical, Programming, Instrument, Computer, etc.)
• Focused expertise in either Automation, Electrical, Programming, Instrument, Computer engineering and basic understanding of the other specializations
• Experience with Scada InTouch as well as Siemens PLC is imperative
• 3-4 years professional experience in automation projects with experience working with field instruments, flow sensors and so forth
• Understanding of mining and mineral processing is an advantage
• Proactive approach and ability to work independently
• Experience with AI and digitalization projects is appreciated
• Systematic and solutions-orientated problem-solver
• Ability to plan, execute and evaluate a project
• Proficient in ERP systems (SAP S4 Hana), advanced Excel and Power BI
• Fully proficient in English and Turkish is a must
