Job summary

DataSpecta is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and build data warehouses and pipelines for banking and finance clients. You will work with dbt, Python, and multiple ETL/ELT tools in a hybrid work setup, collaborating with analysts and stakeholders to deliver robust data solutions.

You will optimize SQL performance, model data both logically and physically, and prototype rapidly with AI coding assistants to move ideas to production quickly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building data warehouses and production pipelines.
• You have written dbt models, tests and macros yourself.
• You use Python for pipelines and automation, not just scripts.
• Experience with at least one ETL/orchestration tool in production.
• Advanced SQL on MS SQL Server, Oracle or PostgreSQL with tuning.
• Strong data modeling skills (logical and physical).
• Comfortable with AI coding assistants to accelerate prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Design and build data warehouses and data marts.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines with ODI, SSIS, Airflow, Informatica or similar.
• Develop and maintain dbt models, tests, macros and lineage.
• Analyze and rebuild legacy ETL flows for correctness.
• Simplify and optimize complex pipelines over time.
• Model data both logically and physically and review others' work.
• Improve slow SQL queries and drive prototypes with AI assistance.
• Collaborate with analysts, BI developers and stakeholders to gather requirements.
