Job summary

European Tech Recruit is seeking an experienced Senior Chip Applications Engineer to lead lab validation and release of advanced chip products. The role spans post-silicon testing, hardware/software development, debugging, documentation, and cross-functional project delivery.

You will work with chip designers from tape-out to mass production release, creating validation plans, building test environments, and producing clear validation reports.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Bachelor's degree with substantial relevant experience considered.
• Strong knowledge of electronic circuits, including digital and analogue analysis.
• Practical PCB design experience, especially mixed-signal or RF circuits.
• Programming ability in Python, LabVIEW, or C.
• Comfort with laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective cross-functional communication.
• Experience producing technical documents.

Responsibilities

Job description

A growing semiconductor organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Chip Applications Engineer to lead the laboratory validation and release of advanced chip products.

This is a hands-on position spanning post-silicon testing, hardware and software development, technical debugging, documentation, and cross-functional project delivery. You will work closely with chip designers and other engineering teams from the tape-out stage through to mass-production release.

Your responsibilities

• Create detailed validation strategies and test plans based on chip specifications and design requirements.
• Build laboratory test environments, including evaluation boards, supporting hardware, and automated test software.
• Perform functional and performance testing to confirm that devices meet their design targets.
• Produce clear validation reports that document test methods, results, and conclusions.
• Partner with design engineers to investigate chip defects, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions.
• Provide design-for-testability guidance during the chip development process.
• Develop and maintain technical product documentation, including chip datasheets.
• Support the development of chip probing, final-test, and reliability-testing solutions.
• Contribute to customer support, field applications engineering, and product-definition activities.
• Coordinate project execution from chip tape-out through validation and mass-production release.

Your background

• A Master's degree with 3-5 years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 5-10 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of electronic circuits, including digital and general analogue circuit analysis.
• Practical PCB design experience, particularly involving mixed-signal or RF circuits.
• Programming ability in at least one of the following: Python, LabVIEW, or C.
• Confidence using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, and multimeters.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical reasoning skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively across engineering teams and coordinate complex technical work.
• Experience producing well-structured technical documents, summaries, and reports.
• A customer-focused approach, supported by strong listening skills and empathy.
• Experience working with analogue or RF circuits would be particularly valuable.
