Job summary

Reboot Monkey is seeking a Freelance Data Center Technician to deliver on-demand support for global data centers. You will install, configure, and maintain servers and networking gear, monitor operations remotely, and troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues to uphold service reliability.

You’ll work independently with remote teams, travel on short notice if required, and participate in planning projects to drive efficiency and security across the data center environment.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• 3+ years of experience in data center operations, with a strong focus on independent or freelance projects.
• Deep expertise in data center equipment and software with hands-on experience on Cisco and Juniper networking devices.
• Strong proficiency in managing and troubleshooting Windows and Linux-based systems.
• Solid understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, VLANs).
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V is a plus.
• Valid certifications like Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS, or CompTIA Linux+ are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking equipment, and other hardware to ensure optimal performance and maximum uptime.
• Monitor data center operations remotely and on-site, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues to minimize downtime.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot networking devices, including Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Manage and troubleshoot Linux and Windows-based systems, performing updates, patches, and security enhancements.
• Document all installations, repairs, maintenance tasks, and system performance for remote management transparency.
• Implement and maintain security protocols to protect data center infrastructure and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with remote IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to enhance data center operations and drive efficiency.
