Job summary

Qualifications

• BSc (B.Sc. and/or MSc) in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in global procurement operations.
• Experience in purchasing and material planning.
• Strong command of MS Office, especially Excel, and AI-powered productivity tools.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools for procurement tasks.
• Ability to review and validate AI outputs with data-security awareness.
• Fluent in English; German is a plus.
• SAP experience; ISO 9001 knowledge; category management experience.
• Experience in supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and risk management.
• Strong data analysis skills (Excel, Power Query; Power BI or Python a plus).
• Experience in automation or digital procurement projects a plus.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills; proactive and responsible.

Responsibilities

• Conduction of procurement activities for rail systems/electric vehicles, incl. negotiations.
• Generate and place orders considering production plan and supplier lead times.
• Build category strategies with the global procurement team.
• Analyze procurement data with AI-supported analytics to identify savings.
• Use AI tools for market research, price benchmarking and quotes comparison.
• Develop and manage purchasing policy; explore total cost of ownership options.
• Negotiate contracts using AI-assisted drafting and risk review.
• Monitor supplier performance and supply risks via data-driven dashboards.
• Identify repetitive tasks for automation and contribute to AI integration.

Job description

We are seeking a Purchasing Specialist with the qualifications below to join the Purchasing Department of our company which operates in the rail systems sector.

• BSc Degree (B.Sc. and/or M.Sc.) in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline,
• At least 3 years of experience in global procurement operations,
• Experienced in purchasing and material planning,
• Excellent command of MS Office programs (especially Excel) and AI-powered productivity tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude),
• Hands-on experience in using AI tools for procurement tasks such as spend analysis, quotation comparison, supplier research and document drafting,
• Ability to critically review and validate AI-generated outputs and to use AI tools in line with data security and confidentiality rules,
• Very fluent in both written and spoken English (German is a plus),
• SAP program experience,
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and Collective Quality Systems,
• Experience in category management,
• Experience in supplier evaluation and assessment procedures,
• Experience in contract negotiation, preparation and management processes including Legal Legislation,
• Experience in claim management,
• Strong data analysis skills (Excel, Power Query; Power BI or Python is a plus),
• Knowledge in total cost of ownership approach is a plus,
• Experience in project management is a plus,
• Experience in ROI (Return Ofon Investment) evaluations is a plus,
• Experience in logistics and customs processes is a plus,

Job Description

• Conducting procurement activities for rail systems/electric vehicles (including negotiations on price, payment terms, delivery methods, order parameters, etc.),
• Generating and placing orders with suppliers, taking into account annual, periodic, and monthly requirements as well as the production plan,
• Building strategies for the categories that are under his/her responsibility in cooperation with global procurement team,
• Collecting, analyzing and interpreting procurement and spend data with AI-supported analytics tools to identify savings opportunities and price deviations,
• Using AI tools for market and supplier research, price benchmarking and comparison of supplier quotations,
• Building and managing company's purchasing policy,
• Searching alternative sourcing strategies by considering total ownership cost,
• Contract negotiation and preparation, using AI-supported tools to draft, review and compare contracts and to identify risks in contractual terms,
• Monitoring supplier performance and supply risks through data-driven reports and dashboards,
• Identifying repetitive procurement tasks suitable for automation and actively contributing to AI integration projects in the purchasing processes.
