Job summary

Haier Europe is seeking a Cost Engineer to develop accurate data cost models using should costing software and leveraging experience with suppliers, tooling, and process knowledge. You will work with Procurement, Manufacturing Engineering and R&D to establish should costs, analyze quotes, and drive cost-saving initiatives across cross-functional teams in a multinational environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics or Engineering.
• 5+ years in similar roles within multinationals.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to sourcing of suppliers regarding part technology, process performance and quality.
• Lead investigations on special projects to foster relationships with suppliers and Haier stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and coordinate with Procurement to propose, manage, and track supplier design changes for best cost.
• Establish part should cost to support engineering and sourcing throughout sourcing processes.
• Assist in analyzing supplier quotes to reach agreement on should cost and tooling cost targets.
• Research cost structures (materials and manufacturing methods) across commodities as needed.
• Support continuous improvement of estimating techniques in Supplier Process to influence the should costing program.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to use material cost/design knowledge to identify cost savings opportunities.
• Conduct benchmarking to determine best cost processes, practices, designs and future trends.
• Communicate efficiently with procurement and suppliers' management.

Job description

The Cost Engineer is responsible for developing accurate and complete data cost models for Haier Europe using a should costing software solution and by applying their prior experience and knowledge of both Suppliers and Toolmaker process (molds and dies).The Cost Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Manufacturing Engineering and R&D.

ACTIVITIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Provide technical expertise and leadership to sourcing of suppliers with respect to part technology, process performance and quality.
• Provide leadership during investigations of special projects focusing on developing working relationships with suppliers and internal Haier stakeholder.
• Develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with Suppliers and work closely with Procurement to propose, manage, implement and track with Supplier design changes for the best cost, capacity studies.
• Establish part should cost to support engineering and sourcing / purchasing throughout the sourcing processes.
• Assist in analyzing supplier quotes when needed in order to reach an agreement on appropriate should cost and tooling cost targets using the should cost software solution.
• Research the cost structure (including materials and manufacturing methods) used with all commodities as needed.
• Support continuous improvement of estimating techniques used in Supplier Process to influence the should costing software program.
• Work with various cross functional teams to utilize material cost/design knowledge to improve and to identify cost savings opportunities.
• Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best cost process and practices/designs and future trends.
• Communicate efficiently throughout procurement and directly with suppliers' management.

REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCES

Education

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Economics or Engineering.

Professional Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in similar roles within multinational companies.
• Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering experience or Supplier Quality.

Preferential Competences & Skills

• Good organizational and analytical skills.
• ISO 9001-2015 and IATF 16949 ( It would be better)
• Experience with supplier evaluations and auditing,
• Proficiency in data analysis, presentation and database tools,
• Experience in Continuous Improvement, Process Flow, Corrective Action and both Problem Solving and 8D Methodologies;
• Ability to compile data and analyzes data results-based performance KPI's,
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a multi-discipline and international environment.
