Job summary

Akçansa is seeking an experienced International Procurement professional to lead end-to-end sourcing and import-export operations for our cement and building materials group. You will optimize supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and coordinate global logistics to ensure cost efficiency and continuity of supply.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, engineering, and legal, manage letters of credit, Incoterms, and customs compliance, and mentor junior staff as

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field; master's considered asset.
  • 3–5 years in international procurement and import-export operations.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, construction materials, cement, or heavy industry sectors is preferred.
  • Proven experience managing overseas suppliers and international negotiations.
  • Strong knowledge of Incoterms, customs, L/Cs, and international payments.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel; strong analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end international procurement processes for cost efficiency and continuity of supply.
  • Conduct sourcing activities, supplier evaluations, negotiations, contract management, and procurement planning for overseas purchases.
  • Coordinate and execute import operations, including standard, investment incentive, fuel, duty-free, and service imports.
  • Oversee customs clearance, temporary storage, bonded warehouse, and freight forwarding with logistics providers.
  • Manage export transactions, including routine export sales and re-export operations.
  • Coordinate L/Cs, international payments, and trade documentation.
  • Monitor compliance with customs regulations and international trade requirements.
  • Lead international tenders and freight procurement to secure competitive logistics solutions.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, finance, engineering, and legal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end international procurement processes for goods and services required by the company, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and continuity of supply.
  • Conduct sourcing activities, supplier evaluations, negotiations, contract management, and procurement planning for overseas purchases.
  • Coordinate and execute import operations, including standard imports, investment incentive certificate imports, fuel imports, duty-free imports, and service imports.
  • Oversee customs clearance, temporary storage, bonded warehouse, freight forwarding, and international transportation processes in collaboration with customs brokers and logistics providers.
  • Manage export transactions, including routine export sales, non-standard export processes, and return-to-origin (re-export) operations.
  • Coordinate Letters of Credit (L/C), international payments, foreign trade documentation, and banking transactions.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with customs regulations, foreign trade legislation, international trade requirements, and company procedures.
  • Manage procurement and commercial activities related to equipment, spare parts, software licenses, patents, technical services, know-how agreements, and capital investments sourced internationally.
  • Lead international tenders and freight procurement activities to secure competitive logistics solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, maintenance, finance, engineering, and legal teams to support business requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance and market trends to identify opportunities for cost optimization, risk mitigation, and process improvement.
  • Prepare analyses, reports, and forecasts related to procurement, import-export operations, logistics costs, and supplier performance.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field. Master's degree is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in international procurement, import-export operations, foreign trade or customs.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, construction materials, cement, or heavy industry sectors is preferred.
  • Proven experience managing overseas suppliers and international commercial negotiations.
  • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs legislation, import-export procedures, and Incoterms.
  • Experience with customs documentation, Letters of Credit (L/C), international payments, and freight management.
  • Knowledge of investment incentive certificate processes, bonded warehouse operations, and international logistics is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Additional foreign languages are considered an asset.
