Job summary

Eaton Corporation in Ankara is seeking an R&D Senior Design Engineer to join our growing team and help develop medium‑voltage switchgear concepts addressing emerging market trends.

You will work with an international engineering team across the Netherlands and Pune, performing DFSS studies, FEA and validation activities on prototypes and final products.

This on-site role emphasizes cost‑effective design, collaboration, and delivering robust solutions for sustainable power systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• 5+ years in design projects (electric sector preferred) or 2+ years as an engineering expert.
• Experience with manufacturing methods and prototyping.
• Kinematic, dynamic, and structural analysis of mechanical systems.
• DFSS design with Green Belt certification preferred.
• Knowledge of material properties and selection.
• Experience with FEA and heat/mass transfer analysis is a plus.
• Expert level: SolidWorks and design data management systems.
• Knowledge of ADAMS, Inventor, AutoCAD, Minitab and FE programs is a plus.
• Experience in ProLaunch tasks and technical solutions.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Take executive responsibility for design development within R&D projects.
• Lead or participate in technical groups performing design studies using DFSS methods.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer expectations.
• Conduct patent research, benchmarking, and regulatory reviews.

We are looking for an R&D Senior Design Engineer to join our Ankara team, playing a key role in the development of medium‑voltage switchgear and next‑generation concepts addressing emerging field trends.

This position driven by business growth and increasing international collaboration.

You will be working closely with an international engineering team, located in The Netherlands and Pune (India).

This role is based on site in Sincan-Ankara.

Key responsibilities:

Strategic Responsibilities

• Take an executive role in strategic studies.
• Develop a clear understanding of the medium voltage MV Switchgear landscape and market trends.
• Anticipate and deliver customer-centric solutions.
• Evaluate complex information and draw timely, appropriate conclusions.
• Lead BOC & ProLaunch studies.
• Demonstrate initiative for personal and professional development.
• Communicate effectively to ensure clarity and audience understanding.
• Build partnerships and collaborate across teams to achieve organizational priorities.

Operational Responsibilities

• Take executive responsibility for design development within R&D projects.
• Lead or participate in technical groups, performing all design-related studies using DFSS methodology, including:
  • Analysis studies
  • Performance tests
  • Prototyping
  • Validation & type testing
  • Data release
• Collaborate with R&D and cross-functional teams (Quality, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Operational Excellence Opex) to meet customer expectations and enhance product experience.
• Conduct research on patents, benchmarking, manufacturing technologies, and regulatory specifications (local and external).
• Lead communication and analysis within technical teams.
• Perform cost-optimization reviews.
• Provide product line support for current products and NPI transitions.
• Validate supplier deviation evaluations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Master’s (MSc) – preferred
• Minimum 5 years in design projects (preferably in the electric sector) OR
• Minimum 2 years as an engineering expert with unique sector-specific technical knowledge
• Experience with various manufacturing methods and prototyping
• Kinematic, dynamic, and structural analysis of mechanical systems
• Manufacturing methods OR Green Belt certification in Design for Six Sigma DFSS
• Knowledge of material properties and selection
• Basic experience in:
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Heat & mass transfer analysis – preferred
• Expert level: SolidWorks and design data management systems
