Turgut Aydın Holding's Insurance Venture seeks a Legal Counsel – Insurance & Regulatory Affairs to provide legal and regulatory support across insurance operations, corporate matters, and compliance.

The role covers drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on distribution, and coordinating with regulators such as SEDD and the Insurance Arbitration Commission, with AML/MASAK requirements and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law and registered with Turkish Bar Association.
• 2–8 years of relevant legal experience in law firms, insurers, or regulatory environments.
• Experience in insurance law and regulatory matters is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Turkish commercial, contract, corporate, consumer, and data protection laws.
• Fluent in English; strong drafting, reviewing and risk assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on insurance, corporate, and regulatory matters to senior management.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, notices, policies, and other legal documents.
• Negotiate with agents, brokers, banks, reinsurers, and other partners.

Job description

We are seeking a Legal Counsel – Insurance & Regulatory Affairs to join Turgut Aydın Holding’s Insurance Venture. The role will provide legal and regulatory support across insurance operations, corporate matters, commercial contracts, and compliance processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law from a reputable university and registered as an attorney with a Turkish Bar Association,
• 2–8 years of relevant legal experience gained in a law firm, insurance company, financial institution, regulatory environment, or in-house legal team,
• Preferably experienced in insurance law and insurance regulatory matters, including insurance products, policy wording, distribution arrangements, claims and compensation processes, reinsurance documentation, and regulatory compliance,
• Strong knowledge of Turkish commercial law, contract law, corporate law, consumer law, and personal data protection legislation,
• Working knowledge of the Insurance Law No. 5684, regulations of the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency (SEDDK), Insurance Arbitration Commission (Sigorta Tahkim Komisyonu) procedures, and AML/MASAK compliance requirements,
• Fluent in English (required), with the ability to effectively manage verbal and written communication,
• Strong drafting, reviewing, negotiation, research, and legal risk assessment skills,
• High level of attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities,
• Proactive, solution-oriented, highly disciplined in follow-up and execution,
• Strong communication and professional representation skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Job Description

• Provide legal advice and practical guidance to business units and senior management on insurance, corporate, commercial, operational, and regulatory matters,
• Support the legal design and review of insurance products, policy wording, customer documentation, and insurance-related processes,
• Draft, review, revise, and negotiate a broad range of contracts, agreements, notices, policies, and other legal documents,
• Review and negotiate agreements with agents, brokers, banks, service providers, reinsurers, and other insurance-related business partners,
• Provide legal support on insurance distribution, claims and compensation processes, customer complaints, and dispute-related matters,
• Support regulatory communications and filings with SEDDK and handle matters before the Insurance Arbitration Commission (Sigorta Tahkim Komisyonu); monitor and support compliance with applicable insurance legislation, regulatory requirements, internal policies, and corporate governance standards,
• Identify, assess, and report legal and regulatory risks; propose practical and commercially sound solutions,
• Monitor changes in legislation, regulations, and relevant case law, and communicate material developments to the relevant stakeholders,
• Support corporate governance processes, including board and committee documentation, resolutions, powers of attorney, and internal approvals,
• Support the legal aspects of personal data protection, particularly in relation to customer, policyholder, claimant, and health data where applicable,
• Coordinate and manage external legal counsel when needed, ensuring effective follow-up, cost control, and timely reporting,
• Contribute to the development and implementation of internal legal policies, contract standards, compliance procedures, and legal training activities,
• Work closely with finance, operations, underwriting, claims, human resources, procurement, and other business teams to support the effective execution of business activities.
