Job summary

Howden Insurance and Reinsurance Brokerage Turkey at the Istanbul Head Office seeks a skilled Legal Counsel to join the Legal Department. You will provide proactive legal advice across departments to ensure compliance and minimize risk.

The ideal candidate holds a law degree with 3+ years of experience, strong English, and solid knowledge of obligations, commercial, corporate, insurance, labour, and data protection laws. KVKK and MASAK knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a lawyer, preferably in-house or corporate.
• Experience in the Law of Obligations, Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Insurance Law, Labour Law, and Data Protection Law.
• Preferably knowledgeable about Insurance Law, Regulation on Insurance and Reinsurance Brokers, Turkish Data Protection Law (KVKK), and MASAK regulations.
• Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
• Advanced written and spoken English.
• Proficiency in MS Office and internet-based applications.
• Strong follow-up, organizational, and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Take an active role in all activities of the Legal Department.
• Provide proactive legal advice to all departments of the company in their day-to-day activities to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations and to minimize legal risks.
• Review company policies and procedures and contribute to ensuring their alignment with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Support Compliance activities, including monitoring and improving compliance with key legal and regulatory requirements.
• Manage the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of various legal documents and agreements.
• When required, follow up on litigation matters, support relevant legal procedures, and coordinate with external legal counsel.
