Job summary

RINA Türkiye Environmental Junior Plan Approval Engineer is needed in Istanbul within the South Europe Marine Division. You will support detailed plan reviews, ensure compliance with MARPOL/SOLAS, and assist on environmental aspects of new buildings and vessel conversions.

Responsibilities include preparing technical reports, coordinating with clients during design/construction, and managing small projects with a focus on environmental documentation and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in environmental compliance in maritime industry.
• Solid knowledge of MARPOL, SOLAS and national environmental laws.
• Experience approving and reviewing environmental plans and procedures.
• Familiarity with EMS, including document management, audits and assessments.
• Ability to conduct technical analyses and environmental audits on marine operations.
• Proficiency with environmental monitoring tools and technologies.
• Strong report writing and documentation skills for environmental plans.
• Ability to collaborate with clients, stakeholders and internal teams.
• Knowledge of sustainable maritime practices and environmental responsibility.
• Fluency in English and Turkish (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Carry out approval of plans and certification for environmental equipment and plans.
• Assist clients during design and construction, providing environmental guidance.
• Support elaboration of marine engineering plan reviews per rules and conventions.
• Resolve conflicts in design requirements and material standards.
• Provide day-to-day project support and site measurements.
• Prepare project deliverables including reports and engineering drawings.
• Take ownership of financial progress for assigned tasks.
• Apply project management concepts and escalate issues as needed.
• Assess minor structural problems to determine solutions with minimal supervision.
• Answer contractor questions and liaison between engineering and construction teams.
